Wedding Soirée with Mexican-American Flair
When tradition meets modern elegance, the result is a wedding that’s both deeply personal and visually stunning. This wedding at the Ivy Room Chicago was a perfect blend of classic Chicago charm and lively cultural celebration, filled with authentic moments, vibrant traditions, and heartfelt family connections.

A Wedding Day Bursting with Love and Culture
I was excited to second shoot for AbeFernandez Fotos this day. From the moment the day began, the energy was palpable. The bride got ready with her bridal party at the chic Loews Hotel Downtown Chicago, surrounded by warm laughter and panoramic city views. Meanwhile, the groom prepared at a friend’s apartment at the iconic Marina City Towers, adding a touch of architectural flair to the early moments of the day.

Though their first look on the Loews Hotel garden terrace was in front of their wedding party who looked on with love, their moment was intimate and joyful. A beautiful, quiet pause before the celebrations ahead.

We then traveled to the South Garden at the Art Institute of Chicago for wedding party portraits. Framed by lush greenery and classic Chicago architecture, this location offered a serene and romantic backdrop for timeless photos.

Courtyard Ceremony at The Ivy Room
The ceremony took place in the courtyard of The Ivy Room, a hidden gem tucked in the heart of River North. This space exudes European garden elegance with its ivy-draped walls and tranquil ambiance. As the couple exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends, the sun peeked through, casting a warm, golden glow on their heartfelt promises.

Cocktail Hour with a Twist
Following the ceremony, guests were welcomed into The Ivy Room’s lower-level lounge for cocktail hour. The vibe was relaxed yet elevated, the perfect space for mingling, savoring signature cocktails, and capturing candid moments.

A Reception Full of Heart and Celebration
The reception was held in The Ivy Room’s stunning indoor space, where every detail spoke to the couple’s modern yet warm aesthetic. Long tables adorned with soft candlelight set the tone for a night of meaningful toasts and emotional first dances. One unique and memorable detail, the couple offered fun and traditional party favors: personalized trinkets and 5-Hour Energy shots, a playful nod to the dance party ahead.

But the real magic unfolded during the grand entrance and first dance. The bride’s father led the Mariachi band, surprising everyone with a heartfelt serenade. Later, the bride herself joined in. Filling the room with joy and pride.

The celebration reached a spirited crescendo during “La Vibora de la Mar,” the traditional Mexican wedding snake dance, with guests running at full speed around the couple in a whirlwind of laughter and tradition.
